Meet our 2018 Summer Intern

Julianna Spears

Julianna is a former youth student of GPC and just finished her Sophomore year at Lee University in Cleveland, TN. She will be joining us this summer to specifically help with our community outreach opportunities and to assist with the various youth activities we will be having throughout the summer. We are excited to have her join our ministry this summer and also looking forward to seeing how the Lord will work in our community.

Q. Which Disney character’s story does your life most resemble or do you relate to the most?
A. Rapunzel, because I'm obviously a princess waiting to be discovered. Also she goes barefoot everywhere.

Q. What food/drink could you not live without?
A. Coffee

Q. What dance move are you secretly awesome at?
A. Well my nickname is JuJu. So I'm probably good at juju on that beat...

Q. If you could meet any living person for a chat over a shared dinner, who would you pick?
A. Queen Elizabeth. We would have tea together and it would be great.

Q. Are you sunrise, daylight, twilight, or night?
A. I am sunrise. I'm 100% NOT a morning person, but sunrise indicates new beginnings, anticipation for what's to come, and a sense of peace. I don't know that these things describe me, but I'm all about them.

Q. Who is a cultural/historical figure who inspires you?
A. Mother Teresa

Q. What is a favorite quote or Bible verse that has meant a lot to you?
A. "Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you." James 4:7-8

I'm learning what communion with God looks like, and realizing that I have to tune in, draw near, and listen if I truly want to hear what he has to say. This verse has been a constant companion of mine over the past year, and the Lord has shaped me in ways I would never have imagined had I not taken the time to listen and draw near to him.

Q. What are you most looking forward to about this summer?
A. I am most excited to form meaningful relationships with the grace youth and people in the Fort Payne community! I love hearing people's stories from all different walks of life and learning from them. It's going to be a blast, and I can't wait!!
